Phase 1: the birth of Val d'Europe 1987-1997
The first phase of development included: - The introduction of a road network and public transport system including the Chessy-Marne-la-Vallée RER-TGV station for regional express and high speed trains. - The creation of a drinking water plant, as well as a purification network (waste water/rain water). - The beginning of urban developments around the old municipality towns through the construction of more housing and public facilities. - The opening in 1992 of the Disneyland® Paris theme park, Disney® Village and a hotel, conference and golfing complex. The first phase lead to the creation of 10,000 direct jobs, a flow of 12 million visitors per year and significant economic and fiscal consequences for Val d'Europe, the department of Seine-et-Marne and the Ile-de-France region.
